Youth Safety Policy
The Green Room Community Theatre places the highest priority on the safety, comfort, and well-being of our actors, volunteers, and audience members, especially the youngest of our participants. We have strict policies in place to protect against misconduct of any nature. You can find a copy of our policies here.
Providing a safe environment for our participants requires constant vigilance on our part and we continually revisit our policies and procedures to make sure that they are effective and enforced. We report all allegations of suspected abuse of a minor to appropriate law enforcement. Cooperating with law enforcement usually necessitates that we refrain from making any comments until their investigations are complete. We also conduct internal investigations of any allegations of misconduct brought to our attention and take immediate steps to protect the safety and rights of those involved. Anyone under investigation is prohibited from participating in any Green Room programs pending the completion of that investigation. Any staff member, volunteer, or paid contractor admitting to or found guilty of misconduct involving a minor will be immediately terminated and banned from our facility and our programs. We inform any other organizations of any known concerns for their participants.
We hold dear the trust and support you have given us over the years and we will take all necessary steps to maintain that trust while pursuing our mission to engage, educate, and entertain our community. If you or anyone you know has been subjected to inappropriate conduct, or if you have any other concerns, we ask that you immediately contact our Executive Director, Cathy Banner at cathy@thegreenroomtheatre.org or by calling 828-464-6583, ext. 303.
