It is with a heavy heart that we bring you the news that  Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute 2020 (or Shakespeare Camp) has been moved to next summer due to the COVID-19 restrictions and limitations we must follow. This will be the first summer in over 22 years that we have not gathered to bring a beloved Shakespearean script to life on stage with a fun twist. This decision was a very difficult one to make.  We feel if given the opportunity,  doing a very limited version of the camp would not be in the spirit or nature of the experience we create each summer.

If you had signed up for camp, you should have received an email with more details.  If you did not receive an email or if you have questions, please contact us at

We hope you have a great summer, and we look forward to seeing each of you when we can all safely be together again!

In the spirit of Camp Shakawaka, forsooth you are the best!

Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute Camp Directors

The Green Room Community Theatre is looking forward to resuming our annual Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute in 2021. This unique experience is a week-long theatre day camp in which students 1st grade through 12th grade explore the exciting world of William Shakespeare and his times. Then they participate in a production of one of his plays! Using Shakespeare as a guide, participants learn more about acting, auditioning skills, costumes, scenery, how to memorize, mask making, lights, make-up, becoming a character on the stage, and working as an ensemble. These are key elements to becoming a better performer (and it can help with English classes, too).
