This is my first time auditioning. Any advice?
It’s easy (and very normal) to become nervous about auditioning, especially if it’s your first time. Relax! You’re going to be great. The most important thing is to just have fun… that’s why we are all here, right?!
What should I prepare?
Most of our auditions will include cold-reading from the script. There will be select scenes from the play that the director may ask you to read from. Don’t worry, you’ll be given plenty of time to look them over before it’s time for you to step into the limelight! Some of our directors request that you prepare a short monologue. This will be notated in the show’s specific audition information. Musicals require a prepared song (about 2 pages worth). The song does not have to be from the musical, but should be from the same musical theatre style genre as the show. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist. Acappella auditions are discouraged. Pop, rock, and country songs are discouraged unless the show you are auditioning for includes those types of music.
Should I come both days?
Each of our shows have two days of auditions. You only need to come for one day! We hold two rounds of auditions with the hope that one of the days will work with everyone’s schedule.
What should I wear?
Always wear comfortable clothing that you can move well in, and please wear closed-toe shoes.
Where do I go?
All auditions will be held at the Old Post Office Playhouse located at 10 South Main Avenue, Newton, NC 28658. Usually, you will be asked to enter at the lower level door at the back of the building (on South Ashe Avenue).

I wasn't cast this time. Now what?
