The Green Room Community Theatre is pleased to announce the dates for its 24th annual Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute. This unique experience is a week-long theatre day camp in which students in Kindergarten through 12th grade explore the exciting world of William Shakespeare and his times. Then they participate in a production of one of his plays! Using Shakespeare as a guide, participants learn more about acting, auditioning skills, costumes, scenery, how to memorize, mask making, lights, make-up, becoming a character on the stage, and working as an ensemble. These are key elements to becoming a better performer (and it can help with English classes, too). This summer you are invited to experience one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, “Hamlet” which will be set in the Serengeti.  This year camp will be July 18-22, 2022. The camp will run Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm for Grades 3-12.  Grades K-2 will be a 1/2 day camp from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.  On Friday, the camp will run from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm with a performance presented for friends and family at 5:00 pm.
